The techniques used for car paint repair and body work continue to improve, as repair shops find more ways to integrate computers and modern technology to their work. If you aren’t taking your car to a shop that uses the latest techniques, you might get substandard work, or be told that certain problems are “impossible” to fix, when they are actually fixable at a different shop.

At Grove Collision Repairs, we pride ourselves on using state-of-the-art techniques to bring you the best car paint jobs, repairs, and bodywork. These are some of the latest and greatest ways that the best auto shops can fix your car!

Four Modern Techniques for Car Paint Repair and Body Work

1 – Smart paint repair

Doing repairs to scratched paint can be difficult, especially on vehicles with glossy paint which shows damage easily. However, the use of computer analysis and precise control of painting systems allows for even the trickiest paint to be repaired seamlessly. Don’t accept mismatched spots of paint!  In most cases, it can be restored to the factory look.

2 – Photo spectrometry painting

Another way car paint repair shops can improve your paint repairs is through the use of photo spectrometry. Highly accurate cameras, fed into a computer analysis system, tell the shop exactly what shade of paint is needed to match the existing work. It’s far more accurate than ‘eyeballing’ the color.

3 – Paintless dent repair

What if there’s a dent that hasn’t broken the paint? With traditional techniques, banging the dent out from the inside, the paint is likely to be damaged in the process. However, new paintless dent repair techniques exist which are more like massaging the dent out. It requires precise work, often computer-controlled, but can often undo the dent without requiring any new paint.

4 – Body frame straightening

Previously, the traditional wisdom was that if your car’s body frame has been seriously bent, it may never be restored to proper shape. That’s not true anymore. With a combination of ultrasound technology and highly precise laser scanning, a car’s body can be reshaped to match factory spec – potentially rescuing a car that might have previously been considered ‘totaled.’
